The Nova Scotia Works Employer Award celebrates businesses that lead the way in fostering inclusive and diverse workplaces. This one-of-a-kind award for Nova Scotia Works employers highlights the incredible efforts of employers across the province who go above and beyond to create equitable environments, ensuring every employee feels like they belong.

We are excited to share that we will be giving two awards this year! In response to the amount of nominations received last year and to allow for a more inclusive process, the nominations will be divided into two categories based on the size of the business! One will be awarded to a Small Business ( 25 employees or less) and one for a Large Business (26 employees or more).
The top three nominees in each category will receive two complimentary invitations to our exclusive Ability to Rise Event on December 3, 2025, where the award winners will be announced. Eligibility Criteria
​Employers will be eligible basedon the following:

​​Have currently or have previously been connected to a Nova Scotia Works centre.

Have demonstrated a commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility (DEIBA) through their hiring, onboarding, or retention practices.

Eligibility Criteria

on the following:

​​Have currently or have previously been connected to a Nova Scotia Works centre.

Have demonstrated a commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility (DEIBA) through their hiring, onboarding, or retention practices.
Selection Process
APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED

The top five nominees will be chosen based on their alignment with the award’s objectives. The final winner will be chosen through a panel of judges and a weighted scoring system, with criteria based on the nominee’s responses and the impact of their DEIBA practices.
Deadline to apply is October 19, 2025. The winner will be announced on International Day for Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 2025 during our Ability to Rise event at the Cedar Centre in Halifax.
